Bollards

Lost Art Limited do stock a number of bollard patterns for casting. The styles range from the simple and functional to the more individualistic and decorative. A selection of the bollards are illustrated below. However, it should be remembered that we are capable of producing bollards to client specifications, either based on drawings supplied or, working with our patternmaker, it is also possible to recreate historic designs of bollard that might be unique to a particular site. This can either be achieved by using existing bollards as the basis for reproducing the required quantity or by taking historic images, such as photographs, postcards and illustrations and producing a matching design. The latter may be an important consideration when a project involves grants from bodies such as The Heritage Lottery Fund and where the accuracy of design and materials are of great significance.

It should also be noted that, as with the majority of our products, bollards are available either on a supply only or delivery and installation basis.

All our bollards are available in any colour required by the client and decorative elements such as contrasting banding can also be specified.

Avenham Walk Bollard

Substantial and decorative, with a Classical element to the design, the Avenham Bollard was produced by Lost Art to recreate the original style of the bollards that were missing from the historic and elegant Georgian housing and walk in the area adjoining and overlooking Avenham Park. Apparently the area was popular with promenaders from the early 18th century and reputably contains Preston’s finest residence ,Avenham Villa. Produced in the appropriate high grade of iron, they are a hollow cast item, available either with a cast root or a fixing base plate. Suitable for installation where style matters and security and restriction of access is a concern.

Barley Twist Knee Trip Rail

A classic design for low level railings that can be found in several of the antique catalogues held in the Lost Art Archive. The barley twist railings will surround areas in a manner that indicate that pedestrians should not enter but manages to do this in a stylish, decorative and historically accurate manner.

Darwen Bollard

A substantial yet decorative bollard that can also be adapted as a post to provide the basis for a railing system. The crisp castings show off the detail of the castings to maximum effect. Originally produced as a commission for installation in the Town Square in Darwen, Lancashire, this has proved to be a popular design and has since been installed in a number of other locations.

Decorative Bollard

A smaller than average bollard or post that can be used where its presence acts as an indication that entry is discouraged but where a substantial or protective bollard is not required. This can be adapted to allow for the inclusion of chain between the bollards.

Manchester Bollard

Simple, functional, yet with an understated elegance, this is very much a bollard for any location that requires a bollard that is both robust and visually unobtrusive. As with the majority of our bollards, this can be produced either with or without a fitting root.

Neston Bollard

Combining a degree of decorative interest via the fluted column and top with the required degree of solidity, this is a bollard to be considered where the post not only has a function but will also be something of a feature in the chosen location.

Oakwood Bollard

Available with or without the fixing holes, the Oakwood can either be installed as a low level bollard or as the basis for a railing system.

This post is available in two sizes and the pattern can also be adapted to produce bespoke sized castings according to the requirements of the client. A robust and functional post or bollard with clean lines, this style is suitable for use in more challenging environments where decorative style is not a significant issue.

Rosehill Post

As solid as the Oakhill Bollard whilst offering a more decorative aspect and available with or without the fixing holes, the Rosehill can also either be installed as a low level bollard or as the basis for a railing system. The pattern can also be adapted to produce bespoke castings according to the requirements of the client. A robust and functional post or bollard with clean lines, this style is suitable for use in more challenging environments where decorative style is not a significant issue.

Southend Post

A decorative, rather than protective bollard, this is a smaller than average bollard or post that can be used to act as an indication that entry is discouraged but where a preventative bollard is not required. This can be adapted to allow for the inclusion of chain between the bollards.

Street Post

A basic, simple, functional bollard , yet with a degree of design and visual interest that draws attention as a slightly different alternative to the more usual installations. This item provides an option for any location that requires a bollard that is both robust, slightly different from the norm, yet remaining visually unobtrusive. As with the majority of our bollards, this can be produced either with or without a fitting root.
